Map of Niagara Falls

The Niagara Falls State Park is the oldest park in the United States, but the falls are geologically very young. Every year, millions of visitors flock to the border between Canada and the United States to admire the beauty of the Falls. To connect the two sides, the American and the Canadian is the Rainbow Bridge, more than 150,000 cubic meters of the water falls every day.

Up to 1885, the Falls were privately owned and tourists had to pay a ticket for admiring the natural wonder from viewing platforms otherwise obstructed by the surrounding fences; it was only with the purchase of the land by the State of New York that began the creation of the National Park. Since 1925, the Niagara Falls Illumination Board provides night illumination of Niagara Falls to the delight of all. The lighting includes a range of colors that alternate throughout the evening. The fireworks are shot from May 1 to October 31 and on holidays such as Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Canadian festivities. Shows start at 10 pm.
