July 4th celebrates Independence Day which commemorates the Declaration
of Independence, which marks the birth of the United States of
America.
Families celebrate Independence Day organizing picnics or barbecues,
or by going out of town for a couple of days.
All parades usually take place in the morning and everything
is decorated with the colors of the American flag ( white red
and blue). In New York, the evening of July 4th fireworks displays
organized by the department store Macy’s, are viewed and
enjoyed by tourists and Newyorkers alike.
This summer, for the first time in nine years, they will be launched
from the Hudson River, to celebrate Henry Hudson, who 400 years
ago explored the river , discovered Manhattan island and founded
New Amsterdam, present day New York. The barges, from which the
fireworks will be launched, will be positioned on the Hudson River
in correspondence of the blocks included between 24th and 50th
street.
Fireworks organized by Macy’s are launched on the East
River between 10th and 23rd streets in New York at 9pm on the
evening of July 4th
