Let's discover the "Green Heart" of New York City and the two iconic residential neighborhoods of the Upper East Side and Upper West. We will start with a walk around Central Park from the Pulitzer Fountain and the Plaza Hotel going towards Wollman Rink, and from here we’ll head up and east and then cross over to the west and descend towards Columbus Circle where the tour ends.
Discover Central Park and the Iconic UES and UWS
During our time together we’ll tour the Park including The Mall, The Minton Tile Ceiling at Bethesda Terrace where we’ll probably enjoy some local artists performing under the arches, Bethesda Fountain, Bow Bridge, and the Jackie O' Reservoir. Here, we can stop for some beautiful panoramic pictures of the UES, UWS, and Midtown with beautiful reflections of the buildings right on the reservoir’s water. We will later continue to the Belvedere Castle*
for panoramic views of the park, the Swedish Cottage, the Shakespeare Garden and Strawberry Fields, and much more.
Please note that the Belvedere Castle is currently closed for renovations thru 2019.
During the Tour, we'll see many popular sculptures placed around the park: Giuseppe Mazzini, Alexander Hamilton, Honey Bear, Dancing Goat, Indian Hunter, and the famous Delacorte Clock that if we are lucky enough we might even see it at the top of the hour during one of its minute-long musically-themed performances.

We will also walk some popular streets of the Upper East Side, here we can admire the sheer elegance and opulence of this wealthy residential neighborhood with Madison Avenue and its luxurious stores. Followed by the elegant 5th Avenue, aka Museum Mile, with palatial residences and iconic Museums such as the Metropolitan Museum: The Met, the Guggenheim, the Frick Collection and the Neue Gallery, former mansions of noblemen and wealthy New Yorkers namely the Vanderbilts, the Rockefellers, The Astors, and The Lenox.
Towards the second half of the tour, we will cross over to the West, namely the Upper West Side, the other historic residential neighborhood of Manhattan alongside Central Park. Here, we will see the Museum of Natural History, Central Park West, and the Dakota. Many don’t know but it was one of the first multi-dwelling buildings ever built for the wealthiest of the 19th century, and one of the first residences ever constructed in the Upper West Side, and of course the former John Lennon's Home.
We’ll also see places dedicated to arts like the very selective and renowned Julliard School Conservatory for the Performing Arts, and the Lincoln Center with the Metropolitan Opera, the Philharmonic and the Ballet Theater, and we will conclude our day at Columbus Circle with the famous Explorer standing tall right in the middle of the Square.
After this tour, perhaps you'd be able to spot the difference between the UES and UWS like any other New Yorker!
