Good things in New York sell out early. The Sunday gospel service in Harlem, a private guide over Thanksgiving weekend, the Statue of Liberty on a clear October morning — these fill up months ahead, and the people who plan first are the ones who get them.
We'd rather you booked early because you want the date, not because you're ready to pay in full. So on most of our tours and services you can secure your place with a 20% deposit, and pay the rest 21 days before you travel.
Your price is locked in at the moment you book. Your place is held. And if plans shift, most of our services can be moved to another date.
If your travel date is less than 21 days away when you book, we'll take payment in full at the time of booking — there simply isn't a window left to split it.
Free cancellation applies to most of our tours and services, generally up to 7 to 10 days before the date. The exact window varies by service, so it's always shown on the tour page itself. Have a look before you book, and if anything is unclear, ask us.
One thing worth knowing: refunds are issued net of card processing fees. When you pay by card, the processor takes its fee at the moment of the transaction and doesn't return it to us when a booking is cancelled — so we're unable to refund that portion. It's a small amount, and we'd rather you knew about it now than discovered it later.
Two categories work differently. They're worth understanding, because the reasons are quite different.
Some of what we do isn't bought off a page. It's designed around you, priced accordingly, and the payment schedule is part of that design.
For these, deposit and payment terms are set out clearly in your quote before anything is confirmed. They vary depending on what's involved — a multi-day package with hotels and private guiding is a different proposition from a half-day walk, and the terms reflect that.
When you book a Broadway show, a museum pass or a dinner cruise through us, we purchase and issue that ticket immediately. The venue takes payment at that moment, and the venue's own cancellation policy applies — not ours.
These are payable in full at the time of booking and are usually non-refundable. We'll always tell you the terms before you commit. It's the one part of the process we don't control, and we'd rather be straight with you about it.
Our private walking tours start from $87.50 per person, based on four guests sharing a four-hour private tour with your own private guide. Because the guide works exclusively for your group, the cost divides between you — which is why a genuinely private experience can sit at an accessible price per head.
It's not a shared tour with a lower price. It's your own guide, your own pace, your own questions, for four hours.
Our gift cards can be bought for any amount and used towards any tour or service. They're a good answer for a milestone birthday, an anniversary, a graduation, or a wedding present for people who'd rather have a trip than a toaster.
Gift cards are payable in full when purchased, and the recipient can put the value towards whatever they choose when they're ready to travel.
If you're unsure whether a particular tour qualifies, or you'd like to talk through how the deposit works on a longer itinerary, get in touch. A real person will answer, and we'd rather sort it out beforehand than have you guessing.
