Where Would a New York Stay in The City?
Have you ever asked a New Yorker for recommendations on where to stay in NYC? Because we are about 99.99% positive, a
New Yorker would never suggest Times Square! We know we don't!
New York City, and its 5 boroughs, offers
endless choices when it comes to perfect neighborhoods for your hotel stay in the city. However, somehow most visitor's first (and last) choice seems to always be Times Square & the surrounding Midtown West. Neither of the two options loved by New Yorkers except maybe Hell's Kitchen and Hudson Yards.
First of all, we should stress how
New Yorkers are very opinionated when it comes to offering their own lists of best and top residential neighborhoods in the city. And
their answers will vary greatly depending if they are native Newyorkers (or at least have lived here for 15/20+ years) or new comers to our city, if they love more traditional residential vibes or more hip & cool places, if they are from Manhattan or one of the other boroughs, and a
myriad of other reasons.
Take our family for example, we would always say "
reside uptown & party downtown" that's because we are used to a more traditional, and shall we say "old school" residential neighborhood like the Upper West Side, so for us Upper West Side above 79th Street is the TOP!
You may ask us,
why do we love the Upper West Side so much? Well, first of all it's home to us, so naturally we love it, but generally speaking, we think it's an overall great neighborhood for its laid-back residential (
and family friendly) vibes, the avenues with the beautiful Pre-War Buildings, the tree-lined streets with the gorgeous Townhomes, Central Park & River Side Park, and the plethora of restaurants, diners, coffee shops and bars!
Of course we are bias, and you will find plenty of people that would say similar things to describe their own (favorite) neighborhoods. If you ask
a native Brooklynite, we are positive, he/she would have a long list of residential neighborhoods around Brooklyn, and so on.
The beauty of NYC is that you can easily move around from neighborhood to neighborhood, on foot or by public transportation. So you can easily reside in one place and then hang out in another area.
So, where would Locals go for their Hotel in the city?
