Summer Streets 2022 - Live Aug 6th 2022

08/06/2022

One of the most awaited Summer Events is back this year and we will have the opportunity to walk without cars along Park Avenue. New York's annual Summer Streets features an eight-mile program of activities & entertainment, starting from the Brooklyn Bridge in Lower Manhattan to East Harlem.

The event, which includes three Saturdays, will start on Saturday August 6th, for the occasion the city offers unlimited 30-minute passes on Citi-Bikes – the rental is offered free of charge by Unlimited Biking, there will be six pick-up points along the way.

Not only New Yorkers love Summer Streets, some 300,000 people flock to Park Avenue each year to play, run, walk, and cycle.

Daily activities and events will take place from 7 am to 1 pm on each Saturday.

Here some "appointments" along the route not to be missed:

  • Foley Square:
Foley Square will host the Dance Party with Live DJ Music. While the Federation of Wheelchair Sports will host training sessions and live basketball matches.
  • Astor Place:
Snacks and drinks on Lafayette Street and Broadway. Free fitness classes will take place in Cooper Square starting at 8:00 am.

The Five Boro Bike Club will offer free bike repairs between 25th and 26th Street. The Department of Transportation's Truck's Eye View will allow children and adults to board a parked truck on Park Avenue between 26th and 27th Streets, while still on 27th Street, children will be able to have free lessons to learn how to ride a bike.

Irene was a FANTASTIC tour guide! She was so knowledgeable about the area and was so patient with all our questions. We stopped to use the bathroom and we got coffee halfway through, she was so kind! It was a pleasure learning about Brooklyn from you!

I’m the biggest fan of Fall activities, but haven’t had a chance to do anything beyond Apple Picking in NJ. I decided to take a last minute 2 day trip with a friend in Hudson Valley, but didn’t know where to start [...] Thankfully I was able to use New York Welcome to do the hard work for us [...]

The SATC walking tour is fabulous! Our tour guide was amazing. Friendly, helpful, accommodating and so knowledgeable about the city. It was essentially 2 tours in 1. SATC and visits to historical places in the city. I give this tour 5 stars and definitely recommend. Grab your walking shoes and schedule one today!
