More on Christmas Lights Tour
Come join us on this Christmas Spectacular Tour of New York City!
The Guide will meet you at your Hotel in the afternoon and aboard a car we will reach the famous, elegant and over-the-top Christmas-themed neighborhood of Dyker Heights. This residential neighborhood of Brooklyn is known for its quiet and serene three-lined streets and lovely townhouses, but during the Holidays it transforms into a theme park! All the houses will sport some extreme Christmas lights and decorations; It's a true contest amongst Dyker Height's residents to win the sought crown of Best Christmas Home and the inevitable bragging rights that come with it!
Do you remember the movie “Deck the Hall” with Danny DeVito and Matthew Broderick? The two neighbors fighting over the best Christmas House? Well, I’m not saying that in Dyker Heights every Christmas ends in a bloodbath, but still the residents are pretty competitive and you can surely expect the same type of “effort” that you see in the movie. [Fun fact: the movie is set in New England but shot in Vancouver BC].
Once we reach Dyker Heights, we will start our walking tour, and we will have the chance to see from up-close all these incredible lights! It will truly feel like we just stepped inside a Movie Setting. Remember to take your phones, camera, video cameras because you’ll want to immortalize some of these Houses. The residents take such pride in presenting their houses, and they might even step outside to greet us and explain why their Decorations are the best and share with us fun stories of previous years and challenges they have encountered in the past. One time, we even got invited inside one of the Mansions!
The contest started in 1945.... Come to discover the real story.
